Yes, it is true that many others have it free. This is true mainly in continental Europe. Very often, I have a feeling that the more expensive chain (not always better chain ) the more expensive add-ons are. Sometimes I think that they think like "if you can afford to stay with us, you can afford to pay for WiFi"...

Hilton on Kearny has it for free--for internet service for the Hilton on O'Farrell, that will set you back $9.95.

If it makes anyone feel any better, staying at the Marriott Warner Center in Woodland Hills and internet service will set us back $12.95 a day! (Tried getting Hilton and Woodland Hills and even in this economy, they still won't honor Gov't rate...same thing for LA....had to book Marriott LA because Checkers basically laughs at gov't rate.)

Anyway.....I can't wait until it is free everywhere...but it seems like it is a long way off.
