I'd say yes.
When I'm travelling on my own $$$ I usually search for something I have not yet experienced - but then I'm a spotter and a civil aviation enthusiast. For example, I am booked on BA flights PSA-LGW---LHR-JFK in June. I could have saved 40 Euros and fly direct PSA-JFK on Delta, but I have yet to see the T5 and fly on a 777 (on the way back though). Well I'd say it's nice to have choices in life

(I'm planning to experience the A380 next Oct...just for the fun of it).
