Last month I flew from XMN to HKG on Dragon Air, stayed overnight and flew out the next day on UA. If you have never been to HKG it is nice to see. Granted no UA miles for the XMN-HKG part but it is really not that long of a flight. You can then hook up with the new config for the flight back.
Thanks for input, many good suggestions. While UA or *A not 100% required, it would be nice. Otherwise, I will have to change inbound to China as well and this has to be PVG. The HKG-ICN option is interesting, it will feel like a two-nighter on the plane though. But I'll look into it.
XMN can connect to several international cities, but doesn't get there early enough to leave the same day for the US, seeing that I cannot leave my meeting until close to noon time. Was hoping not to overnight if possible. And if possible, what carrier(s). If I have to overnight, then will like do PEK or HKG as these are easiest connections from XMN (CA to PEK or KA to HKG). XMN to Shanghai is mostly to SHA rather than PVG.
