So call your congress critter. This isn't a CO thing, it is a US law thing.

What if I ship it on time and the delivery company messes up? What if it arrives on the afternoon truck instead of the morning truck. It is certainly an inconvenience and potentially can cause many, many problems, depending on just how urgent the need for the item is. But that doesn't mean I'll never use FedEx again. After all, there are a limited number of options and when things are done right the vast majority of the time you occasionally have to deal with things going badly.
The odds of getting another flight that is 7 hours delayed, operating without any IFE or the lights stuck on, much less all three, are ridiculously slim. And there is no reason to believe that any of the other options (JL, OZ and soon DL operate NYC-NRT non-stops, too) don't also have a risk of any of these things happening one day.
And for those thinking I'm just a CO apologist, I'd say the same thing about any other carrier. Making a macro decision based on a micro sampling is a sure way to end up with zero options.
