Perhaps a quick look at which airline will collect most of the higher surcharge amounts will provide insight into why the amounts were raised to those levels (when QF introduced PE). and no doubt there will be some "fiddling" when the OW fares go through the next round of foreign exchange adjustments.
From an AA FF member's perspective, the AU$750 isn't such a bad deal when the cost of J on SIN-LHR is considered or (even without status bonus) when one calculates the earning on a LONEx BA segment in L versus T.
Maybe it's time to consider a NZ TA......
