Hubby's flight into ORD was fine, but his next flight has been delayed for hours. At this rate, it is faster to just rent a car and drive. However, this is his outbound flight, and I am worried that his return itinerary will get canceled. Will United honor his return tickets if he "abandons" this connection? Talk to a CSR (not via phone)at ORD. Present the situation to them, they probably will work with him.
But please note if he doesn't get clear authorization to do this, or tries to do this after the fact... his return WILL be cancelled.
