Guess you haven't talked with some of the Plat Concierges that I have lately - absolutely AMAZING! Starwood does have competent help in many cases; but like everywhere else sometimes things get screwed up. It happens.

I guess I would do things like arrange for a car/shuttle/etc. myself from the airport. What if you missed a flight/was cancelled/etc. seems it's easier to do some things myself while others e.g., if I don't know a city and want something special I would probably ask the ambassador. All in all though, my two Plat Concierges that I use all of the time are just superb in every way so I would just stick with them!
