NOthing to do with that, unfortunately. Low fares (I've actually seen lower fares to Asia recently!) are the result of the global crisis. Decrease in air travel in 2009 is foreseen by IATA to be around 4,5% IIRC. Airlines are having a hard time filling those seats.
