Flying Blue
special offers and new rules
Members of Flying Blue, Air France and KLM’s frequent flyer programme, regularly benefit from special offers, both to earn and spend Miles in exchange for flights and even hotel stays.
Starting on 1 April 2009, Flying Blue is offering Web Awards to almost 50 destinations, i.e. tickets at half the usual amount of Miles, such as a roundtrip flight to Dublin or Frankfurt from Paris-Charles de Gaulle for 10,000 Miles instead of 20,000, or to San Francisco for 25,000 Miles instead of 50,000.
The rules of the Flying Blue programme are also changing as from 1 April, so that the most frequent travellers are recognized and rewarded more generously.
Passengers can benefit from Flying Blue miles for life. To benefit from this, they just need to travel at least once every 20 months (instead of 36 before) on Air France or KLM, whatever the type of flight or fare, or on any SkyTeam alliance airline or on Aircalin.
Few airlines offer the benefit of unlimited Miles like Air France and KLM. On most airlines, Miles have a limited validity which cannot be extended. On other airlines, passengers have to travel frequently for their Miles to remain valid.
The new scales for earning Flying Blue Miles reflect the fare paid in a fairer way.
An example of earning Miles
The amount of Miles indicated in the table are the basic amounts.
To this amount, Bonus Miles must be added when the Flying Blue member is a Silver, Gold or Platinum cardholder:
Each time they travel, these passengers earn:
50% more Miles for Silver cardholders,
75% more Miles for Gold cardholders,
100% more Miles for Platinum cardholders.
