Not only did I get a free upgrade for SFO-JFK, I got one for JFK-FCO!

Night before, it was showing me 2 out of 4 in the upgrade list.

But at the gate, I was 5th out of 12. I did get in.

And then in NY, I wasn't expecting an upgrade nor did I even ask. They don't have status screens at the gate like SFO did.

So I was at another gate, recharging my iPhone and then went back after boarding had already started. They scanned my pass and said to go back to the gate desk and they put me in business elite.

Business class was pretty filled up. I know others got upgrades too. I'm guessing they want to encourage loyalty in the face of declining sales?

But the SFO-JFK flight was pretty full and so was the JFK-FCO flight (in comparison, I'd flown SFO-CDG and CDG-VIE at the end of January and the SFO-CDG flight wasn't that full).

What kills me is I paid over $900 for that January flight and $644 for this one. I also checked this route at the end of April and it's even less, $601.

Anyways, it was a very restful night.
