Cross-posted from Travelzoo -- Westin Alexandria for $99 Thur-Sun til Aug 2 as I think the information would be good for the master thread as well.

The food in the lounge in Alexandria is the same as it has been since it's opened. I've stayed once every couple of months of months since they opened about a year and a half ago (a total of 5-6 times or so) and haven't seen much of a change.

In the evenings they'll have a couple of decent cheeses, a sliced meat of some sort, a hot appetizer, juice, water, and soda. No alcoholic beverages, though evidently they do have them in the back for a price if you ask the attendant.

Breakfast is a number of boxed cereals, as well as a bowl of some sort of "house" cereal that I thought was good, but couldn't place the brand (i.e. in a large bowl that you scoop out of). They also have a couple toppings for cereal (raisins, dried cranberries, couple other items). Some pastries and juice is also available. For those that like oatmeal (I'm not a fan), that isn't available.

Overall, the lounge is comfortable, though not too large. I've rarely really seen it all that crowded though.

As far as non-lounge food goes at the Westin Alexandria, the Trademark Bar (cutesy name since the Patent and Trademark Office is nearby) has pretty good food at a decent price, particularly for a hotel restaurant.

In particular I enjoyed the clam chowder, which had a very good flavor, though it wasn't quite as thick as I normally like it. As well the chorizo pizza had a good combination of chopped chorizo and mushrooms, though the chorizo seemed to be concentrated near the center of the pizza a bit which made it a bit floppy in the middle. The beef sliders didn't fair quite as well. The bun was a well-made, buttery brioche, but the beef itself was overcooked to my taste, which tends towards rare/medium-rare, so others may enjoy them quite well.

The bar also has a number of well priced flights of wine which are always fun to try.
