Regardless of whether the cars are bigger or smaller, I just don't think I want to hoist a loaded 30" bag into the boot of any car, large or small. YMMV.
I didn't imply you were not a seasoned traveler, Michelle. What I am saying is that "normal" cars in Europe are exactly the same size as they are in the US. As normal I qualify four-door sedans and station wagons and hatchbacks. You would have been right saying that, on average, there are more smaller cars on the road in Europe. However, saying that European cars are teeny is factually not correct. Especially if you think that a 30" duffel wouldn't fit in such a car. I guarantee you the 30" duffel will fit in a Polo or possibly a Smart and those cars are the size of a Geo Metro or smaller.
Now, that you don't want to haul the 30" duffel is an entirely different issue and I am certainly not gonna tell you what to carry. I did however want to dissipate any fear you might have that that bag would not fit in a teeny European car.
