Some agents will and some say they can't. (They can as I have had this done). If the meal choice is important to you, after boarding , ask the flight attendant if your status is noted. Flight attendants have told me they don't liker the policy as it has caused tension as people are bypassed. But I guess living on airplanes has its privileges!!
