Hi there here is the answers I got when asking:
1. Ticketing agent:
He: "No we don't have"
Me: "So you don't have any longer?"
He: "Well yes we have but only on certain days - not today"
2. Checkin agent:
Me: "Are you fully booked ?"
Her: "Pretty much"
Me: "I asked about an upgrade beforse?!?"
Her: "Well not that much booked"
3. Lounge receptionist
Me: "Any last-minute cahs upgrade?"
Him: "Sorry that's not possible"
So I am now "stuck" at with what I paid for in the first place.
I wonder if I should give it a try with the gate agend later ?

BA gate agents aren't normally empowered to do this; nor do they have the wherewithal - cash boxes; cc readers etc.
