I booked a nonrefundable advance pay reservation for the Four Points Bay Bridge / Emeryville for the 16th - 18th of March. My grandfather passed away on the 15th, prompting me to stay home instead of take the planned trip that week.

I called the hotel, they said they'd refund the amount minus a $25 fee. Checked my statement today and saw a credit for the amount minus the fee. I appreciated their understanding - as they didn't have to refund my payment.
