i was an E and wife was P...and twice we were served last cause it was op-up (once from Tango and once from Tango Plus) and once an upgrade YVR-YYZ on SSWU. however, this happened over 20 times i was upgraded by op-ups and certificates on Tango Pluses, so i dont think status matter too much.... (unless everyone else was a revenue / SEs on those last served meal flights)

also as printed on the upgrade certficates if you were upgraded at the airport, they will try to serve your meal of choice but cannot guarentee. how this plays out, i have no idea because on my SSWU from YVR-NRT i was served by row but YVR-YYZ, I was served last.

i was told by the flight director (senior attendant) once from YHZ-YYZ... that revenue pax gets first choice (which makes sense, afterall they pay big bucks) and ML*1 gets last, but i dont know how the sequence follows in between.

just to complicate things a little further, my dad SQ*G (PPS) and then later without SQ*G also get his meals served in sequence on J and by luck always get upgraded on AC without asking..... perhaps friendliness and being well dressed matters?
