AC status members, of course, like this policy. Revenue and Aeroplan PAX in business without status do not.

You were not being discriminated against as an award ticket holder, but because, I assume, neither of you are E, or SE.

While this is correct, it is important to note when you book an award, your status is not shown. You can ask at check in or by telephone to have your status noted. Some agents will and some say they can't. (They can as I have had this done). If the meal choice is important to you, after boarding , ask the flight attendant if your status is noted. They will advise. If it is not, show the card and get the meal choice based on E or SE.

Flight attendants have told me they don't liker the policy as it has caused tension as people are bypassed. But I guess living on airplanes has its privileges!!
