Scolded For Grabbing a Pillow!
I was flying DEN - CLT last week, and didn't get upgraded on the oversold flight. Walking through the F section to my Y seat, I saw a pillow and blanket on each F seat. I wanted a pillow for my lower back, but I wouldn't take anyone's pillow from their seat so I kept walking. Then luckily, I saw an extra pillow in the overhead just in front of my bulkhead seat. I grabbed it and sat down, and was immediately confronted by a flight attendant who said that pillows were for first class passengers only. She took my pillow and told me I could buy the pillow/blanket set for $7, which I declined. In truth she was very polite about it and I offered no protest. I do not blame her for enforcing US policy. But the pillow was clearly an extra, it came from the overhead, and everyone in F still had a pillow and a blanket. It is a small thing but in my opinion it is this kind of thing that makes US seem really chintzy and uncaring about their customers. Thoughts?
