Yeah it's definitely a european thing. I sometimes would forget when over there for longer periods; order a salad and then leave it when they only provide "salad cream" (mayo).

I even broke my non american food rule and went to Pizza Hut when I walked by drooling at the salad bar I saw through the window. Not only did they have more than just mayo, they had ranch - not heard of in non-us countries!!!!

But on Us flights, they should offer something else; since culturally it's not common for us to use the may (even though it does say salad dressing on the containers!). i do, however, love eating my fries wtih mayo and ketchup mixed. that european tradition i keep. yum!
