I agree with you 100%. I also hate mayonaisse. But I have learned in my travels that some countries consider mayonaisse a salad dressing and love to douse everything with mayonaisse. In some countries people use it on french fries instead of ketchup. To each his own, I guess.
France comes to mind. I have found more people in France use mayo on their fries than ketchup (or is it "catsup" ;P ). And I have noticed many more Europeans use ketchup on their eggs than Americans.
