A few notes for you since we were there recently.

We loved the free tour of Dublin... we were stumbling around near the castle at ~1115am and a guy grabbed us & said "Join the free tour". There were about 15 others on it. We spent the next 1.5 hrs going around everything in Dublin. It was amazing and we learned a lot that we would have missed wandering around by ourselves. We found out that it leaves at 11am everyday near the city hall on Dame Street. It's totally free and at the end, the guide said that he would take tips. About half of the people gave him a Euro or two, but we gave him 5 because he was awesome. However, he walked quickly (you have to if you want to cover everything that he did in the allotted time).

Guinness was ok, but not worth the money, in our opinion. I'd much rather see a functional production site. However, you can trade your ticket stubs in for a drink it the bar at the top floor and have a great view of the city.

Temple bar area was pretty cool.

When we were there 2 weeks ago, the tour guide said that the Book of Kells is not on display currently. Supposedly the air purifying chamber that holds it malfunctioned and they're rebuilding it. We were told that a local pub has a replica on-site. If you want to get in to the Trinity College library, it's 3 Euros per person, but college students can take up to 3 guests inside. Several from our group found a college kid around outside & gave them 5 euros to take a few guests inside.

If there's anything else you have specific questions about, shoot me a PM. Enjoy your trip!!
