FS Chiang Mai with a Child

We visited the FS Chiang Mai for 5 nights last March and had a very nice stay. Our daughter was 2.5 at the time and stayed in the room with us. There was enough room for her crib in the bedroom, but we move it into the huge bathroom so that we could have our own separate space. Our daughter absolutely loved the Water Buffalo on the property and had numerous opportunities to feed and ride on one. The staff was amazing with her and she still talks about our visit there. I have not stayed at the MO, but my impression is that the FS is a more intimate, romantic property. There were other kids there for our daughter to play with at the FS, but it doesn't seem like the kind of place for a large family or one with rambunctious kids. The larger MO might be the better choice in this case. Also, the FS kids club is located in a dark, windowless environment (not so appealing) though I imagine the activities that take place outside of that space are probably well organized etc. Our daughter was too young to take part at the time anyway. So if you are looking for a place to drop off your child or children for a few hours, then the MO may offer you more extensive facilities. That said, the staff was really fabulous with our daughter and would whisk her away to feed the fish while we were having breakfast or have her join in the musical instrument playing etc. She of course loved the complimentary ice cream and fruit on skewers served at the pool. Also, the FS had bikes with child seats for us to use free of charge and we had a great time biking from the FS to the fantastic Elephant Camp (a definite highlight of our visit) up the mountain with our daughter on the back of my husband's bike. As far as the condition of the resort - we found it well maintained and it didn't seem out of date or rundown. The grounds are immacutely maintained. The style of the resort was tasteful and attractive. I did, however, notice a board and nail of the decking at the pool sticking up a bit and mentioned it to a staff person who immediately came to take care of it (so very good, but not perfect). Overall, a great romantic and intimate property. Good luck with your decision. I hope this information helps.
