I wonder if there is a big difference in where the nit operates - another words, are maps better in Europe than the US? Northeast US worse than the South?

I live in the NE United States, but honestly don't plan on using it here - i pretty much know where I am going here. I need it more for travel, so something more comprehensive of the United States (tend not to drive in other countries) is pretty important.
