We used to go to Europe twice a year but Coach class has gotten so miserable that our last trip to Europe was in late 2007, upgraded to Business Class with miles and a hefty "co-pay". Last year we did scale back and had a couple of short vacations in the US, but not due to economics- more a boycott of TATL in Y. This year we're planning one trip to Europe in Business Class using miles. So, we'll actually be spending more on travel this year than last. My husband is 70 and it's getting harder and harder for him to un-kink his lanky frame after flying TATL Y- so future European travels will be if and when we can get reasonably-priced comfortable seats for the trip. We'll be keeping an eye out for bargain Business-Class sales, without regard to airline loyalty.
