So, what's likely for U: staycation, downsized trip, or vacation as usual?
Spring is here and Memorial Day won't be far away. Given the state of the economy and your own finances, what are the plans for this year likely to be: staycation, downsized trip, or something more or less in-line with pre-recession times?
In my case it'll probably be scaled back somewhat. I might be able to still go somewhere in North America with moderate wow-power on an award ticket, but would have to economize on land costs and possibly shorten length a bit.
Staycations are still a little radical.
Something with better resemblance to trips of days past might be Seoul/Mongolia using a KE award for the last part, or using *A NZ awards and possibly an LCC link or two to hop around the South Pacific.
I noticed the Arthur Frommer Budget Travel magazine had a cover story on dream destinations but positioned it all as something you could do SPENDING MILES. They don't want to appear clueless.
