Sorry, my fingers were working faster than my brain. Yes, the trip home would be LHR-YYZ-ORD-MCI. I'd prefer to avoid a second connection given the availability of LHR-ORD-MCI itineraries.

Not sure what LGW would do for us. There's BA's LGW-ZAG flight but we're traveling in September so MCI-DFW-LGW-ZAG is not an option because they're discontinuing DFW-LGW. And I will NOT try MCI-ORD-LHR-LGW-ZAG. That way lies madness. Or were you thinking of it on the return home so we could go LGW-MAN-ORD-MCI? It's still an additional connection.
