Kiwi_FF, just a warning from a former oneWorld Emerald (top elite) member: unless there were some changes, if you are based in AU/NZ CX will ask you to join QF FF and not its own FF program. To achive any status on oneWorld using QF FF, you will have to fly at least 4 QF/JetStar-operated flights every year. Otherwise you will not have any status awarded (no extra bonus miles etc.). There is CX Marco Polo Club, but it is a kind of status and not mileage program.
OP will not need to join QF FF. That applies only if he is a BA EC member. CX will gladly take you onboard as a MPC member.
MPC is the loyalty programme, but its award arm is Asiamiles.
