SFO - LHR, 6/18 - 7/6, 4 passengers (ultimately we want to end up in Venice but need 5 nights in England first).

I'm looking for the best way to upgrade with miles and we're flexible on our dates. This fare is approx. $1700 pp on UA but ICC says there are only 3 upgradeable seats left. I don't have to fly on UA. Every time I call to check on *A options, ICC confuses me. I wish there were a better way to check for *A flights than calling ICC.
