Brussels is very english friendly, most people speak French, Flemish and English. The public transport system is very good. From the airport you can take a 25min train downtown (Zuid/gare du midi/ south station) for about 5 Euros return, from there you can get a pass for the public transport system, that includes subway, bus and tram. It will take you everywhere you want to go. I think a 10 trip card is about 10 euros.
