Pax using the jumpseat?

Hi everyone,

I recently did a longhaul flight with BA in the first row of WT (28HJ, 744 mid-J) which is both an exit row and a bulkhead. The leg room was huge and it was not cold, I could not complain about it, UNTIL a pax came from wherever he was sitting before the dinner service (which means in less than 1 hour from take off) and sat there. Another passanger did the same with the jumpseat situated in front of 28BC.

Both pax ate there their dinner, slept there, and had breakfast, only returning to their seats (I guess they had seats) before landing.

Now this is the issue:

1. It was extremely ackward to be sitting face-to-face to this person. All the flight. If people complain about CW during take off and landing try this.

2. Out long legged "space mate" extended all his boddy and slep with his legs on the bottom of our seats (where the bar is), between my husband and me. We could extend our legs to the front, no problem, but I've never tried this menage a trois and didn't find it great.

I wondered if this is common and to wha extent could we have asked him not to use our legspace. It is hard to put a boundary but lets say our seats should belong to our legspace....

If anyone has been in this situation, either as the couple or as the space mate, I would love to hear your experience or advice.

Ana
