When I entered the lounge on Feb 18 at about 20.30 for BA 182 I was surprised to see people at 2 separate tables eating McDonald's!

I hadn't used the pre-dining service since its early days, and had recollections of it being perfectly OK. I've also used the Virgin service a couple of times in the last year and it is very good.

Oh dear - was the BA food or was it bad. The chicken had been standing far too long and was very off putting. I picked up some bread which was also out under the warming lamps. It was toasted, so I pointed this out. They agreed with my observation and removed it. When I asked for some fresh bread I was told that bread was now finished for the day!!

We tried a pasta dish. It was horrible with a chemically creamy sauce. Back for another go with the other pasta dish but this one had a red sauce that was equally nasty.

So we became the third table in the lounge eating McDonalds!

I did try to complain, but the manager never showed. The entry desk staff took my details, and privately told me that it was becoming a major source of complaints. They even came to me on 2 occassions to say they couldn't find any supervisors. Still haven't heard from BA.

Virgin will be my preferred option for EWR & JFK when I'm coming back on a late flight.
