Look, my comment was somewhat tongue-in-cheek, however this particular policy is as silly as the secondary hand check before the gate for US bound planes.

And what kind of policy is it when it cannot be fully enforced? That being said, I always have my minimal liquids in a silly ziplock, just in case.
