In response to point 5, I have sometimes had to leave as much as 10 mins to get to the gate. I always find the LGW Lounge non-Dragons to be very helpful, and they will (normally) be happy to advise the likely time to get to your gate. Just make sure to keep checking the screens to find out which gate it is going to be -- my last couple of trips they kept it a secret until about 30 mins before push-back !!

AMS often goes from the new pier (6?) gates 101-108 where you have to cross the taxiway via the big bridge. It's worth leaving the lounge early just to stop and admire the view. The lounge monitors give you the gate number long before the main lounge, so you'll know if it's worth leaving early.
LGW is also pretty good at calling CE and Gold/Silvers first when boarding.
