I agree that these seats are not ideal for a shared experience, but gosh are they terrific for sleeping, which makes up for not being close to your loved one. I got a solid 5 1/2 hours of sack time when I was on 850 a couple of weeks ago. If you get seats across an aisle from each other (rather than the two middle seats) you will easily be able to see each other.

AC is currently using the 77W on that route--to be switched back to the 333 in the spring--so maybe they have that aircraft tentatively scheduled for Winter '10 as well.
