Flew MCI-ATL-UVF (St. Lucia) and returned UVF-ATL-BWI. Landed at 8:40AM, didn't deplane until 9:10. Ran from B1 to E2 and barely made the 9:35 St Lucia flight. There were many late arrivals on that plane, barely made it. So that was a sub 45 minute connection .

Coming back, our flight was late leaving UVF by 35 minutes, but we landed on time. However taxi time was horrible again and didnt get off until 8:20PM. Customs was completely empty. Made it to the baggage claim at 8:30, however it took 30 minutes for our bags to come out. Had our bags rechecked at 9:05PM and ran to make our 9:15 connection to BWI. Made it to B13 at 9:11PM, and discovered the flight was delayed and wasnt departing until 9:40PM. Unfortunately our bags never made it to BWI, even though they had 40 minutes to get them there (our bags made the outbound connection with less time!).

So, I would say leave at least 1h30m for inbound international connection, minumum. Also, delta really needs to re-examine its St. Lucia schedule. It is very hard to connect through ATL for a 9:35AM departure, and it is also very hard on the way back to connect with an 8:10PM arrival into ATL. Neither of these planes were very full (maybe 60%). Lots of empty rows to switch into.
