This "problem with the e-ticket" sounds a bit odd to me for a standard, simple booking which has been completed already with no issues. It might just be some other website issue causing the link to be disabled - Dilly might be able to confirm that (or otherwise).
It does happen.
I'd done a 241 miles booking to Oz for next year, out in F back in CW when the half price miles sale came along.
There was suddenly plenty of availability for OZ and the chance to save a few miles, and travel F in both directions.
However, I couldn't cancel the flights online and it took a day to cancel, followed by 3 nerve-wracking days and about 5 phone calls before the miles and Amex voucher were recredited.
Fortunately, all came out well in the end and we're now heading both ways in F this August.
I did find that chasing hard seemed to move things up the processing queue.
