I'm no RTW expert but it sounds like they jacked up the fares immensely in Australia, discovered that they wouldn't stick, and are now trying a lower increase -- but it's still an increase. Why is everyone treating this as if it's some sort of customer triumph? It's still looking like a 10-15% price hike over the pre-Feb 1 fares.
I'm just baffled that Star management were stupid enough not to realise that their Australian market share would be reduced to almost 0% based on their previous price rises. It was called here by numerous arm-chair CEOs, myself included.
