You may well be right. An extension by a week or so is not the same thing as lowering the TPs required. I think it is worth a go.
My friend to whom I referred was by no means confident that his stroppy letter - in which he virtually implied that Silver status was reserved for child-murderers on parole - was going to get him very far. But a polite letter from BA, containing a new Gold card, arrived fairly promptly afterwards.
