3/3: ORD-OKC on a RJ . . . we were all boarded and in seats when the pilot made an announcement that the plane was slightly overweight, and they needed to get rid of a couple of people (and their bags).

I think I had my hand up before he had finished the second sentence! I was on my way to a convention which didn't start until the next day, and had absolutely nothing to lose by getting in at 8 pm instead of 2:30.

Compensation: a voucher for one E- ticket anywhere in the continental US, W/V/Q class, good for the next year. I'm planning a trip out to DEN in August (currently running $319-339 on the UA website) so I'll probably use it for that.

Ironically, I almost *never* fly UA; this was only my second trip in 5 years! I had booked this six-segment, four-state, 4200-mile itinerary RIGHT before the New Year, which was the time when I discovered FT, realized that if I actually committed to one airline I could probably qualify for *some* kind of status, and resolved to fly CO whenever possible (it makes by far the most sense based on my location/major destinations). Would have been nice to have an extra free MR or something like that, but no complaints!

One of my friends who took a voluntary bump on the way OUT of OKC on Sunday (on AA) also was upgraded to F for her later flight. Wish that had been an option but, alas, not on my plane!
