I have a small light weight travel kettle. It is the first thing in my bag when travelling overseas. I need a coffee as soon as I get out of bed. It may be instant coffee, but it is better than nothing. It is also handy when the inside of the coffee maker looks gross.
You can buy filtered coffee 'capsule'-like object that sits on top of a cup if you prefer to have a decent coffee. I'm pretty sure I've seen them in Australia.
