B was never mentioned then and having no extra security screening in B would have never worked per the departure requirements to the US. So this english announcement was and is BS.
Actually as recently as a month ago there were UA flights leaving from B20 regularly, with a special secondary screening in front of the gate, the same one used for Israel flights earlier. While it's not a LH flight so strictly OT here it shows that B can handle US-bound flights. Similarly US-bound flight could be handled from the B3x/5x/6x bus gates that have secondary screening. None of them is on the third level (which actually is level 4 or 5 in the FRA levels numbering scheme IIRC)
