I am trying to choose between PSP-SFO and PSP-SJC. How do these two routes compare. Certainly there are more flights in and out of SFO, but SJC is slightly closer to my destination.

1) SFO is served by AS, but SJC is served by QX. Which route has better onboard service? I am not familiar with the reputation of AS vs QX.

2) PSP-SJC on CRJ-700 does not offer first class, but PSP-SFO on 737-400 does offer first class. Does QX really offer beer and wine, even for short route PSP-SJC on CRJ-700?

3) When is PSP-SFO most likely to offer free upgrades? In practice, are upgrades available only to MVP or also to NW Platinum? I do not imagine that PSP-SFO is elite heavy but have no experience.

4) How does standby work in practice on PSP-SFO? Is standby on a later flight within the same day likely? How far in advance is the confirmation for later flights announced?
