Not a celebrity, but he was certainly treated like one (probably a Prem): Sandy Crombie, CE of Standard Life, on the 8706 from LCY to EDI yesterday.

Anyone who uses LCY regularly, and especially those of us who prefer Row 1, will know that it is a scrum to get from the departure "holding pen" to the aircraft as quickly as possible, so that you actually have a chance of putting your belongings anywhere near where you are sitting.

Seemingly this can be over-ruled for Sir Sandy, as he was allowed to stroll across to the plane while the rest of the passengers were held back in the pen like a pack of wild dogs.

Whilst boarding, half the plane seemed to know who he was and nodded or said hello; I just gave him one of my Paddington stares because not only did he have my preferred 1C seat, consigning me to the window, but he had taken up all of the overhead storage space with his bags.

And to the chap in 1B: don't be such a creeping, fawning sycophant.
