They are phasing out the 2 miles per AA $ on new Citi personal cards as well. I have a personal Citi MC opened in 10/08 and it pays only the standard 1 mile per $, even on AA purchases. I thought that was a mistake at first, but Citi pointed out that it isn't part of the package anymore on new accounts.

Thanks for the tip on working around this by buying AA GCs -- but I can charge those to my Starwood AmEx. No reason to keep the Citi card at this point.
