Central reservations didn't help me. Diamond Desk didn't help me either. I spoke to the hotel direct and after some to-ing and fro-ing they gave me credit for the next stay at the hotel.
I think when stuff like this happens, the hotel itself is your only hope.
You are right. Am waiting to hear from hotel (Hilton Guest Assistance filled out some sort of report the hotel is supposed to respond to) but also am in contact with a FTer who can use the room and I'm willing to give it away rather than let it go unused.
