Last year, I stupidly booked nonrefs at the same hotel for the same dates twice.
Central reservations didn't help me. Diamond Desk didn't help me either. I spoke to the hotel direct and after some to-ing and fro-ing they gave me credit for the next stay at the hotel.
I think when stuff like this happens, the hotel itself is your only hope.
