Insane PHL Baggage Times

I don't know if anybody else has had bad experiences this past weekend getting mainline bags in PHL. Mine was bad enough to warrant a call to Dave's office and skip consumer affairs all together.

Took 46, LAX-PHL on Saturday night. We arrive at the gate at 5:45am. The SFO flight beat us in by 2 minutes. We get down to bad claim and wait, and wait, and wait. Finally after 40 minutes I go to the baggage office to see what's up. Bags from the SFO flight come. They said it took 39 minutes for the bags from the Vegas red-eye to arrive, so it should be any minute for us. Meanwhile the SEA flight arrives and those passengers come down to bag claim. Their bags come after 20 minutes.

Now we're getting close to 6:45am and they place another call to the gate. Some problem that the bags are still on the plane. The flight goes off the claim monitor.

Finally at 7:10am, just as everybody makes their way to the baggage office the bags start to arrive. We were the 3rd flight in of the day and it took our bags nearly 75 minutes.

Here's the kicker. After I get my bags, I try to find a baggage supervisor. Nobody showed up. Then I go to the ticket counter and ask for the Manager of Concourse B, which we arrived at. I am told that not only have the concourse managers not come in,but that there are no supervisors, and the manager of the hub isn't in either. I wasn't going to vent to frontline employees that hear it on a daily basis so I get to my car and speed home up the Schuylkill while fuming acid!

Go to pick up my brotherlast night off 619 from DTW-PHL. Again, they arrived at 6:30 at the gate. While waiting on the arrivals road he calls me at 7:30 and says still no bags, let's go to Villa di Roma for dinner and come back. The kicker for him was that when he got to DTW, the earlier express flight was about to leave, but they checked his bags before he realized it, as it had room and he'd have taken that because Terminal F is great.

Anyway, I call CCY this morning and get Dave's office and tell the girl what happened. I am going to FCO tonight on US2, so when I get to PHL tonight I am still going to try to talk with the hub manager,or at least a concourse manager to tell them how unsatisfactory this whole thing was.
