As I understand it, using CheckFree is a "push" model, where paying directly on the payee's website is more of a "Pull" model, if you catch my drift. Once BofA has ackowledged my payments instructions I know I'm off the hook, but with CheckFree there is no guarantee that the payment will be accepted by the payee on or before a given date. At least that's how it used to be...
