One segment. Even if there is no non-stop between departure and destination. Best way is to shop connection points to get a short and a long segment, rather than two medium segments. For example, I used this STL-OGG. There is no non-stop, I must connect in DFW or LAX. I connected in DFW, used the BXP1 on DFW-OGG (763). I could upgrade STL-DFW for 1 sticker. If I had connected in LAX, it would be 4 stickers to upgrade STL-LAX, then could have used the BXP1 to upgrade LAX-OGG on the 757.
