We had a great experience with apartmentsba and our bed/2 bath apt was $1,500 for the week, which would have been a $800+/night hotel suite. We got maid service halfway through the week and it was a secure doorman building with gym/ pool. PM me if you want more details.
As for the food- we did Casa Cruz (excellent), La Cabrera (delicious steak and the largest sweatbreads I've ever seen in my life), Sucre (off by the domestic airport in a somewhat random area, but food was delicious), Don Julio (great steaks).
Gay bars- Sitges was fun on a Friday night.. I'd compare it to Barracuda. We then went to Glam which was a club.. more like an E Vill (Eastern Bloc minus the gogo boys and bigger).
Axel hotel- definitely stop by- at least for a drink. They have a rooftop pool with glass bottom that you can see from the lobby. We had cocktails on the ground level pool area one night..didn't get a chance to do the tea dance or any of the parties. We had friends staying there that really liked it, although the rooms were somewhat small. I believe they paid about $150/nt.
Kim y Novak- Small neighborhood bar in Palermo.. just stopped in for a drink to meet Rchavez, it was cute.. kind of like XES.
La Preciosa- Full on club with dancers and house music. Nothing like it in NY anymore. I recommend buying a bottle of champagne and Speed (energy drink). I think it was 100 pesos (~$28) for the bottle and 4 or 5 energy drink cans.
Thanks to RChavez for showing us around on our last night.. it was my birthday and I had a blast!
Great summary - I'll have to check out some of those places. Did you happen to go to Bulnes Class? I've heard good things.
